how to get rid of imbedded double space after heading in document

I am cutting and pasting work from another document into the first document
which has the style of no line space. When I bring the text into the
document it automatically double space. I set it at single space to no
avail. I would like to conform my document as my supervisor gave it to me
but am finding out that I cannot do it. Can anyone help. Much appreciated.

With the cursor in one of the paragraphs, if you open the Format, Paragraph
dialog, are the before and after options set to zero and is the line spacing
set to zero?
