After uninstalling Windows Search 4.0, neither the conventional search nor
the "Advanced Find" works in Outlook 2007 SP1 MSO. I'm running Windows XP
SP3, and removal of Windows Search (or perhaps the SP3 update that
immediately followed) did seem to restore the functionality of its Windows
Explorer search, which would no longer sort search results after I installed
Windows Search -- the main reason for its removal. Now, unfortunately, I
have this new and even more vexing problem.
Things I've considered trying: Install the SP2 update for Office 2007, or
even try to "repair" or to re-install Outlook. The latter option is
unpalatable, since I would then have to restore all of my settings. Before
trying either of these approaches, however, I thought I'd ask for
recommendations here. Failing that, a pointer to the proper Microsoft Office
forum would probably help.
