How to handle an exception error of MS Infopath on a form?

MS Infopath 2003 SP1 crashed on a form when I opened it in design mode. It
gave an exception error. So, we couldn't recover anymore 2 days work. The
form runs fine in run mode. Other forms can open in design mode. However for
this form, MS Infopath created an exception error. I think that the MS
Infopath program crashed on a certain condition in the form during design
mode. Please help.
I did send the error report to Microsoft but, who knows where that arrives.

Hi,

The InfoPath XSN file is basically a "CAB" file so if you have the WinZip
application, you could open the XSN with WinZip and extract the interior
files to a folder. At that point, each file could be opened with, say,
Notepad.

So if you happen to know what you modified that caused the failure, you
could back that out by simply modifying the appropriate file(s) in Notepad.
However, if you don't know exactly when the failure may have occurred (i.e
"it worked until i did this") then it's going to be difficult to isolate
the area to fix.

I hope this helps!

Dear Scott:

Thanks for your help. We had to delete about 3 pages of the form in notepad
before we could get it to work again in design mode. It helped but we still
had to do a lot of retyping.
Anyway, it is really helpful that you moderate this newsgroup. Without you,
we would have been completely lost. Thanks very much for your help.
