How to have word print edge to edge??

O

Ole

Hi,

I have an HP 6500 which is able to print to edge and it is setup to do so.It
works well when printing from other programs but not from word that puts a
wjite edge 0,32 mm around the paper. Anyone who knows a way to have word
printing to the edge?

Thanks
Ole

The limits of the print area in Word are set by the printer driver. If the
printer is capable of printing to the edge as you indicate, there will
probably be a setting in the driver (probably relating to photograph
printing) that allows it to do so. This is not something controlled by Word.

The printer setting are set to 'print to edge' and the margins are set to 0.
There are absolutely no problems when printing from Excel with exactly the
same settings. I don't think the printer driver is able to distinguish
between word and excel so th eproblem must be located in word!

Thanks

It doesn't mean that at all. Word interrogates the printer driver to
determine what page settings it can apply. It doesn't matter what you set in
Word, if the current driver configuration does not allow printing to the
edge (and unless you have it set up for printing photographs it almost
certainly will not) then Word will not print to the edge of the paper.

Try changing the setting in the printer Properties before starting Word.
Does it work then?

Because Excel doesn't address the printer driver in the same way. Lots of
applications access the printer directly. Word is not one of them.

You may be able to define a custom paper size to overcome the problem.

No - have tried that - the default setting of the printer is "print to edge"
so it doesn't change anything.

Is the whole thing a problem of Word or a problem of the printer???
HP wont help me because they say that it is word that causes the problem.

Thanks

Have you tried a photo setting? That is the only way I can get edge to edge
printing in Publisher. It will use more ink. If you are okay with that, it could
be your solution.
