Oh, yes, it is possible.
But we need to see more of your data set to be able to tell you exactly how.
Post a simple of about ten entries so we can see what's what.
Generically, use the SEARCH function in a formula to search from the sixth
character right in the string until you find the next comma, then take
everything to the right of that as your number.

i have a long list of data - dates followed by numbers in the form
1,1,1990,2.34,"-" where the numbers and dates are varying, does anyone have
any idea how i could just select the numbers (which may be between 0 and 100)
from this and then sort them lowest to highest? - is it even possible
