How to hide a column

Hi:

I'd like to know how to hide a column in PWA. I can see how you can uncheck
it and not see it in a view..but how do I make it unavailable to the user
when he inserts a new item(he doesnt really have to select/enter a value for
that field because there's another similar field existing in the view). When
we migrated from PS 2003 to PS 2007...I got some RSS Synch error ...so to
avoid that I created this field...but it doesn't have to have any
information..as there's another column that contains the exact same
information. I am unable to delete the other column...so I just wanna hide
this one..and keep the other one.

Thanks
Nachal.

Hi..lookslike I have to enable content type settings in order to hide that
field. i did it for one list. But I'm trying to see how to access it
programmatically through webservices. updatecontentype() maybe..but I have to
enable it first in order to update it...if anybody has any idea...please let
me know.

Hi...even I make it unavailable in a view...when some wants to enter a new
item, they will be asked to enter some information in this field. Even though
it is optional, I do not want users to see it...as there is another field
with same name and description. I'd want to avoid having same information two
different fields.

Users can't add columns in PWA Views so I don't understand your comment:
they will be asked to enter some information in this field. Can you not
just change the process/app that is asking them to do this undesirable
thing?
