How to hide e-mail address in website

I show an e-mail address on my site for responses. Inevitably, I get deluged
with spam at that address. I have to keep changing my address.

What can I do, if anything, to make the address usable for responses but not
for e-mal address harvesting bots?

The best option is to use a form to allow users to contact you, that is then
process via ASP, PHP, CGI-Perl, etc. on the server, not the FP Form.

By the way, a very brief search of this forum would reveal a similar discussion started just yesterday.

I've had success simply replacing mailto, @ and any
vowels in the address with with their numerical codes.

mailto: = mailto:
@ = @
a = a
e = e
i = i
o = o
u = u

FrontPage doesn't like it much though - you have to paste
the code into the html rather than stick it in the
hyperlink dialog box.

I like this because it's simple and I can do it myself.
I set up a site with this in October and haven't had spam
to the address yet.

I got it off a website somewhere but can't find it again
to give them credit

I have seen a number of sites where an image is used instead of text - this stops the harvesting
apps.

Since the harvesters crawl the html, the image only works if the html email
address is somehow encoded.

Jane, I tried your simplified approach and it works with FP. Remains to see
be seen if it fools the robots.
