How to hide hyperlink references

S

Slabaugh

I am using PowerPoint 2007 to simulate user interactivity of my company's web
sites. As such, I have many hyperlinks going to/from different PowerPoint
files.

Since the links are to other PowerPoint files, you see the hyperlink
destination reference when your mouse hovers over the link. What is
displayed is something like “C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\...â€
Obviously this ruins the illusion of using the web. How can I hide the
hyperlink display?

I cannot consolidate the different PowerPoint presentations into one file
because there are too many links. Even if I input Screen Tips text within
the hyperlink dialog box, the hyperlink destination reference still displays.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Put a transparent box over the address and hyperlink to the box

Hi Dan

I can't reproduce this behaviour - if I add a screentip then that is the
text that is displayed regardless of whether I'm linking from text or a
shape. What are the exact steps you are taking?

Slabaugh,
It is possible to edit the hyperlink, and change the tool tip that's
attached to it.
Unfortunately you cannot eliminate it entirely. Just change it to a single
space. Click in the hyperlink, insert, hyperlink, at the top there is a
button tooltip. In the textbox just put in a space.
I remember vaguely John Wilson mentioning a program which enables you to
hide the tooltip altogether, but for the life of me I cannot remember it's
name.
Maybe John will pop in and help us out.

Except his memory is failing fast !!

I searched for "Hide Hyperlink Wilson" and of course got this post!

We installed it for a client who needed exactly what you are doing and it
did work and was really cheap. It was called (I think) AlphaPC or maybe
AlphaXP. I think it made ALL tooltips transparent not just in PowerPoint
