How to hide the ABCDEF... of columns and 123456... of rows

Hi Folks!

When looking at an Excel Worksheet, the columns are labeled across the
top alphabetically (A-Z and then AA, AB, AC, AD, etc.) and the rows
are labeled down the side numerically.

Can anyone tell me how to hide the letters and the numbers?

They're hidden for rows and columns that I've hidden, but for rows and
columns that are not hidden, is there anyway to hide those "labels"?

I'm on Mac 10.4.9 using Excel 2004 11.3.5

Thank you very much!!

Hi Bob: I have a similar but different question. I am also a Mac
user and for some reason my column headers which are normal alpha
letters have now changed to numeric??? Now I have numbers on the rows
and columns and my fomulas have defaulted to this...=SUM(R[-4]C
+R[-1]C)... Do you happen to know how this happened and how I may
have my column headings be alpha? thanks

You need to visit the Preferences too - General, clear the R1C1 check.

Sure - Excel> Preferences> View - remove the check for Row & Column
Headers... perhaps that will work for whatever you're trying to do, but keep
in mind that the header labeling is what enables identifying the cells:)

Preferences/General, uncheck the checkbox for R1C1 Reference Style.
