Hi,

The menu bar in which "Documents Elements, Quick Table, Charts..." locates, right below document title.

Since I don't use it, I want to hide it. How to do that?

Thank you,

You don't! It's there. It isn't going anywhere (yet). Get used to it.

There are two issues that crop up over and over -- how to hide that bar,
and the paragraph spacing.

I do hope MS is taking note of the unpopularity of both.

Sorry, you can't turn off the Elements Gallery toolbar.

Use Help | Send Feedback in Word to ask for a preference to hide it
entirely.

In Word | Preferences | Gallery, be sure to UNcheck the "open elements
gallery when app opens" so that it stays collapsed.

It does not show up in Draft View, if that helps.

You can't (at least not completely, in some views)

The presence of the Elements Gallery (and the Elements Gallery bar) actually is determined by which View you are in. It won't appear (at all) in Notebook Layout View, Draft View or Outline View. The bar will (always) appear in Print layout View and Publishing Layout View.

You can *collapse* the Elements Galleries themselves (the larger user interface element that show the thumbnails there - click View > Elements Gallery), but (unfortunately) there's no way to completely hide the bar itself (in the views where it appears).

Hope that helps a bit.

Masking Tape is your only friend:) You can collapse the Elements Gallery to
display the buttons only, but you can't hide the button bar. (If you haven't
found the setting yet it's in Word> Preferences> Elements Gallery.)

If you feel strongly enough about it you can use Help> Send Feedback in
order to substantiate your claim in the MS data collection system - if they
get enough requests there could be a change in the future.
