How to import Contacts in Outlook 2003 into new Outlook 2007?

Just tell me how... cannot possibly copy from scratch every one of those
address cards - how do I copy them into the new Office program for 07

If you Installed Office 2007 by selecting Upgrade then they will be there in
the upgrade.
If you uninstalled Outlook/ office 2003 then installed Outlook/Office 2007
(on the same PC) they will still be there

Related question: I extensively used the "Contacts" field (lower left hand
corner of the Contact page) that allows linking an address book contact
record to other address book contact records. Is that function still alive in
2007 and is there anything special i have to do to insure it gets converted?

In Outlook 2007, that Contacts field still exists but does not appear by
default. You can easily add it to your Contacts Record form by checking the
"Show Contact linking on all Forms" box in Tools > Options > Preferences >
Contact Options...
