How to import RECOVERED Eudora emails into Outlook from a FOLDER?

Hello:
My old laptop crashed, and I had to get professional help to RECOVER the
files. I used Eudora for email. I now have a new laptop (HP Compaq with new
WindowsXP) - I reloaded my old OfficeXP with Outlook 2002. It only seems to
allow me to IMPORT from programs, not from files - but my recovered files are
all lumped together into one mass, and I am only able to "search" and pull
together all the Eudora .mbx files, because the program itself is scattered
in with all the other retrieved files+folders and no longer functions.
So how can I IMPORT my Eudra .MBX (mailboxes with emails) into Outlook
2002? Thanks.

I think you'll have to do this in two stages. Your easiest way is to install
Eudora on your new machine. Then move all the *.mbx files into your Eudora
folder. Open each file to build the .toc index files. Then in Outlook go to
File-Import and Export-Import Internet Mail and choose Eudora.

Actually, my problem is just the opposite: I am trying to do exactly the
same thing, only in the opposite direction!
I was able (with help) to recover the Eudora .mbx files, but they won't
open with Eudora on my new machine, i.e., they appear to be corrupted. The
Eudora techie suggested that, as a last effort, I try to import the original
recovered files into Outlook and then re-import them into Eudora, to see if
it fixes any of the problems.
So I am back to my original problem: How can I import the .mbx files
into Outlook when they exist only in a file, not in Eudora itself?

Can you open them with a text editor? (The mbox format is just a text file).
If so, and they look ok try doing the same operation but into Thunderbird
(or Netscape) and see if one of those will open them. (Just remove the mbx
extension from the files and copy them into the TBird or Netscape profile
folder)

The problem with that is, I think that you can't do so without the existence
of the index files (the *.toc files).
