How to import timesheet data from an excel to Project file

Situation: We have a customer using another system for time entry. They can
export task name, date and time posted ( and more info) into an excel sheet.
I have a similar project here with identical tasks.
Question: How do I import the data in the excel sheet to corresponding tasks
in my project in ProjectPro2003/ProjectServer2003/any script?

Hello,

I can get download excel file in format task name, resource name, date and
work/time posted and would like to import it to my project file in projectpro
2003.

Has anyone imported data like this into projectpro? any suggestion/technote?

Kani --

If you wish to import progress from an Excel spreadsheet into a Microsoft
Project plan, the spreadsheet must contain a key that you can use to
identify the correct task in the Microsoft Project plan. Then you can use
the Import Wizard and merge the update into the Microsoft Project plan.
Without a field that serves as the key, you cannot do this operation. Hope
this helps.

OK. "Save As" in excel format helped me to define the fields and format and
"Open from " helped me to import data from saved format.
