How to Importing XML files into Access

I would like to import XML files into Access but the process is failing.
For small files < 40KB I get a message saying import was successful. The
table name is created but the fields are not created and no data imported.
With larger files I get: "Microsoft cannot create table(s) using the
information contained in the document(s) you are trying to import."

I'm using Access version 2002 (10.6501.6714) SP3
