How to insert a count?

Hello ...

This HAS to be a basic question...

My Form A
Has a Subform B on it ...

I want each record in B to have a number... 1 for the
first record, 2 for the second and etc.

Subform B is from Table C
C has some fields X Y Z , and FID

I want FID to be the place where the numbers go ...

So ... how do I do it? I know it probably has something
to do with Form control properties ... I read about it
somewhere ... but it's buried in a huge reference
book ... and I can't remember where....
