How to insert harddate in Word template rather than a soft date?

Would it be possible to revise a standard templates (.dot) so that, when a
date is inserted, it's a hard date rather than a soft date? I'm concerned
that it's hard to tell when a letter was actually written when it is pulled
up on one's screen (or when a fresh copy is printed).

Hi Joe,

You can use a CREATEDATE field, to show when the document was first created, or was last saved using File|Save As.

Other options include the PRINTDATE and SAVEDATE fields, but these update every time the document is printed or saved, respectively.

Another possibility is to either convert the DATE field to plain text, or lock it (Ctrl-F11), but both these options require some
form of intervention once the document has been created.
