How to insert picture from camera

Having difficulty..any help appreciated....maybe the wrong place to ask?

Trying to insert a picture into a word document from my digicamera..its an
Olympus5050.

With camera attached by cable/USB and switched on and doing...

Insert/Picture/From Scanner or Camera/highlight camera in Device/click
Custom Insert (the Insert button is greyed out - not sure if that should be
the case?)..then I get the words...An error occurred while acquiring the
image. Damn!

Any thoughts,

Don't try to work directly with Word for this. Use a graphics program to
retrieve the image, set the size and resolution you want to end up with,
save it, then import that into Word.
