Select either text or a picture and either click on the insert hyperlink
icon, right click hyperlink, or insert > hyperlink. Under Link To click
either Web Page, Email address, or Place in this document. To test CTRL +
click or do a web page preview and click. You can also add a hotspot link...

you are doing and what results.
