how to install office on USB-U3 stick?

let me add a little bit to what JoAnn said:

Office depends on a lot of local registry entries and various anti-piracy
technologies (product activation, etc) which is unique to the computer on
which it is running on. Also, you couldn't really justify it's legality
either :)

Thank you - I knew about the registry entries but you phrased everything
much better than I could have. ;-)

Actually, the two responses here are not so much correct. You will nee
a decent sized jump drive, like 4 gig or so. You need to make i
bootable. HP has a utility that will help you with this. Then you nee
to load a stripped down version of XP. Google Barts XP to get a fre
copy. You can then load Office on there. I've been using it for over
year now and it works great

basically you have to TRICK the operating system into thinking that the
USB is not a removable drive.

Not so much "trick". My computer sees it as a jump drive. I can actuall
(if the computer is new enough to support it) boot to the usb drive an
run Windows off of the jump drive. Very cool, really
