How to keep bands in cross functional flow from moving

Sometimes, when I open my cross functional flow diagram, the bands
(swimlanes) have unaccountably moved to a different sequence. This is a
fairly complex diagram, so moving the bands around makes it hard to read and
understand.

This problem seems to occur when I open the diagram first thing in the
morning. It doesn't seem to happen when I simply close and re-open Visio
during the day. I've been storing the diagram on a network. Is that the
problem? Should I be storing it locally? Or, are there some security settings
I need to tweak?

Any suggestion on how to keep this from happening are very welcome!

What version of Visio is this? I seem to recall a problem with Visio 2000,
and I thought it was addressed in a later release.

Visio Professional 2003. But, some of the other discussions seemed to suggest
that network issues could corrupt a Visio diagram, and mentioned something
about auto-save and automated events, so I set auto-save to save every couple
of minutes. I also analyzed my diagram and discovered that some of the bands
had all the protection switches turned on, while others didn't, so I set all
the bands to the same value (unprotected). Something seems to have worked,
because the diagram looks fine this morning -- both the version on the
network and the local version.

Any suggestions about why the diagram is NOT corrupt, or whether the changes
I made might have truly made a difference, would be appreciated!

Thanks for getting back to me.

I don't understand the behavior you are seeing. Visio does make some
attempt to scan the cross-functional drawing when it is loaded, but that
shouldn't result in things moving.
