How to kill installer

For the past couple of days, a new window has been
appearing whenever I switch on the laptop or launch Word.
It says 'Microsoft installer - preparing to install...'. I
suspect this is due to a site I accessed recently that
required installation of specific fonts.

How do I prevent this message from appearing?
