How to know if a resource is added in between during the project?

We know about baselining and once I baseline, I can compare variances.
However, if I have added additional resource during the execution of the
project to get some work done, is there a way to check later that this
project was completed with an additional resource?

One way could be to check for Work Variance and Cost Variance, but there
could be Work and Cost variance for various other reasons also.

I specifically want to know if I can get 'resource variance'!!

Try using the Resource Usage View. On the right side youcan add the rows for
Cost Variance or Schedule Variance. You can do this by right clicking on
one of the items in the "Details" column and select "Detail Styles..." from
the context menu. You can also add the other varianble such as Actual Work,
etc.

Now you should see cost variances for a specific resource on a specific task.

Just a thought, if you added a resource to a project, couldn't you determine
if they worked on the project by looking at their time card?

Hi Pali,

Unfortunately, other than baseline Work values, project does not
save in the baseline the specifics of who was assigned. So, if you
initially had Sue assigned and at the execution of the task Sue was
replace by Mary, if Sue's resource rate and availability was the
same as Mary's and Mary performed the same amount of work, there is
no built in manner to capture the change in resources.

I suppose you could use one of the spare text fields and copy the
Resource Names field when you baseline.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you Jim and Julie for your responses. I tried the following and seems to give me the information that I want.

I added a Baseline Work column in Resource Usage view. If this particular resource was not in the project when the project was baselined, Baseline Work for this particular resource would show zero. Then Work and Actual work would tell you that this resource was not planned to be used earlier, but now being utilized.

Jim, on your question on whether the time card for a resource wouldn't tell that the resource worked on the project, this would definitely tell the project manager that a resource worked on the project, but for a PMO or some steering committee, it it has to depend on the schedules to know whether the resource got added or not, using baseline work for a resource would help.
