How to know what is Outlook doing in unresponsive mode with 50% CP

Hi,

I have been facing issues with Outlook 2007 which generally happens while
writing an email. It gets hung and continues taking 50% of CPU everlasting. I
have to kill it from task manager and restart it. There is no other way out.
Could anyone please tell me how to know what Outlook is doing with 50% of
CPU(e.g getting info from exchange server, hanging because of some add-in
etc...)?

Thanks.

If there is nothing logged in the Event Viewer than there is no way to find
it out for sure without trial and error.
For a short intro to troubleshooting Outlook via the Event Viewer see;

If it happens a few minutes after starting to write a message then it could
be that it is crashing upon trying to do an AutoSave. This usually indicates
a corruption in your pst-file. In that case run scanpst.exe against your
pst-file to check it for errors;

If it works correctly in Outlook Safe Mode, then it is probably caused by an
add-in;
To start Outlook in Safe Mode use;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
(note the space in the command).
