how to know whether Powerpoint can open the appointed file

Hi,everybody!

I'm a newbie in the office developer.I have embeded the Powerpoint to my
program,and it is ok when the powerpoint open the *.ppt file,but when open
the file that powerpoint not support,my program will exit automate, so I
want to forbid the powerpoint open the file that it's not supported, can
anybody tell me how to do it ?
