How to link a Project file from a website

I need to post an MS Project file (.mpp) on my website but
if I simply add an <href> to the page it does not open
correctly, even if Project is installed on the PC. Does any
one know what to do? I can't save the file as an HTML
webpage because it is updated weekly and there is simply
too much code to format on a weekly basis. Any ideas?
Plug-ins? Any thing?
