How to load Office 2000 sp2 when Office 2000 is not recognized?

I have a new computer which has Office 2000 (Word, Excel)
and Office 97 (Access, PowerPoint). When I tried to run
the office 2000 sp2, it does not recognize that I have
Word and Excel 2000. I did load the Office 97 after the
2000 programs.

Is there some way to load the sp2?

If you installed an earlier version over/as well after the later version you
will have likely corrupted yr install of office.
You will need to uninstall Office, if you can and start again, with the
earlier version first.

Thanks, for the info. BTW, I am installing office 97
because my version of office 2000 does not have powerpoint
or access.

Then you need to do a custom install of O97 and install only powerpoint
Ensure you check for updates, *prior* to installing later version of office.

DL, I tried it again, still the same problem. I wonder if

the problem is with XP, my other computer was win2k. The
problem is that after I install office 2k, the sp3 does
not recognize that it is loaded. Perhaps this is an issue
with some registry settting?

Have you used Office Update site or are you trying to install a saved sp
update?
Since you origonally tried to install O97 after O2k it may be a case of
having to run the MS utilities to completely clear yr sys of the prevous
installs first - I'm not to sure
