Hi
How can I load office 2003 (I have the CD) on to a laptop without
a CD-Rom drive (it's an Advent 10.2")
Would I have to get an external CD-Rom

I tried making an iso image, but it wouldn't load

That would one way, or try it from a shared CD drive on a networked PC.

Find a computer with a CD/DVD drive. Copy the entire CD/DVD to a USB
external drive (thumb or hard) and use that to install the program on your
computer.

Hi LV
Tried that, but Microsoft wouldn't install from a copy, it needs to be
from the CD. That's why I'm looking for another way

As DL said, it will but you need to go to the proper install file (and since
I am currently at work and not on my home system I can't tell you what it
is.) I have installed all versions '97 to 2007 from a copy of the CD (DVD
on '07) on a USB hard drive and '03 & '02 versions from a 2 GB thumb drive
onto which I have copied the CD. I have also done the installs over my home
network many times to the various computers in my house.

The setup file will be either in the root of the folder you create to copy
the files to or in a setup folder and will have the .exe extension (you need
to have the Folder options, view, hide file extensions.... turned off.)
