How to make a _single_ pic fill the background & not repeat

When I change page properties to import a custom background pic FP 2k shows
multiple images of the pic.

Is the only way to make the pic show as a single large pic in the background
to enlarge the original jpg file?

Yes.
to use a single image, the image must be the size of the browser window
you are trying to fill.
