how to make a chemical symbol in side note

like i am trying to make CO2 but i would like the 2 to be down like they in a
boook if they can be

That's a subscript and it can be applied by selecting the "2" and either
selecting Format | Font | and clicking on Subscript on the bottom of the
Task Pane, or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-=.
