How to make a "Project", and not a Task, with everything a Subtask?

I attended a training on MS Project 2003, in which the instructor
showed us how to create a true Project, and everything else was then
tasks of this project - as opposed to how we do it now, which is to
create a top level task which we call the "Project", then everything
else is a subtask of this. As we use Project 2007, the directions he
gave did not work for us. How in Project 2007 does one create a true
"Project", instead of just a top level task, followed by subtasks?

During the training for MS Project 2003, it was shown by going to
File>Properties.

If this all sounds confusing, as difficult to explain here, I can add
further detials.

Thanks

Steve,

Reading this is seems like you are looking for the "Project Summary Task".
If that is the case go to Tools>Options>View tab and in the Outline Options
for <project> section check the "Show project summary task". What is listed
under File>Properties>Summary tab in the "Title" is what will be the Task
name for the Project Summary Task.

Hi Steve,

I think you're asking how to show the top level task -- called the
Project Summary task. Go to Tools > Options and on the View tab,
check the option "Show project summary task".

Also just for your future reference. You may want to post question
to have to the Microsoft.public.project newsgroup in Google groups.
You've posted to the Microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup which
is really for folks using MS Project in conjunction with Project
Server.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
