how to make a table of content in a book written with publisher?

for example:
introduction.....page 1
subject A........page 2

in a way that when I change the the content of the page it may require two
pages or not, but what is the way to keep the index generated automatically,
and not manually?

There is no way Publisher will generate an index or TOC. You are using the wrong
application for your project, Word is the product designed for this type
document.
