How to make a toolbar button for "Symbol" font?

In my previous Mac (running Word vX) I somehow had customized my toolbar to
include a single button that when pressed, turned the selected text to
Symbol font. I can't remember how I did it. Now (Word 2004) all I can do is
add a font selection menu to the toolbar, which takes too long to use. I
want a button that always makes it Symbol. Can someone tell me how this is
done?

Fonts are listed in Tools | Customize as a separate category in the left
column. You can drag the Symbol font right to the toolbar.

Hi Mike:

Another way to do this is to create a style of type "Character" and place
that on the toolbar. You can set not only the font but the size and colour
in a character style.

Cheers
