How to make onenote 2003 work with wireless router?

Hi all,

I previously used OneNote to share session with colleagues over the Internet
via a direct connection.

Today I've added a NetGear wireless router to free myself from the network
cable.

But my colleagues says he could no longer connect to me using OneNote
sharedsession.

I know it is due to the router. So I tried the port mapping in the router
setup and mapped the 2302 port from the router to this laptop directly. It
still did not work.

Does anybody know how to make it work?

2003 for two PCs on the same network(although not the same subnet range,
i.e. XXX.XXX.YYY.YYY, I mean the XXX.XXX part for the two PCs are different,
but the two PCs are near each other, and they belong to the same big
network), but it worked for this case.

But my colleague and I tried it in two different countries then the
port-mapping does not work. What's wrong with it?

Yes, I am behind a Netgear wireless router, which I set up to make my home
wireless... I am not sure about the NAT thing on NetGear router.

He is behind a whole cooperate network. I am not sure about his NAT...

Any more thoughts?

Yes. I just checked this here with OneNote 2007. When I initiate a live
sharing session here and go to invite participants, OneNote creates an
email for me that list all IP addresses. Noteworthy is that it lists
internal IP addresses (those handed out by your router) and also the
external one of my router. It also lists the ports that are available
for this. Internally, OneNote 2007 always uses port 2351. Externally
however, it seems as if it randomly assigns ports. E.g., I have two
external IP addresses (Internet and VPN). One has port 18947, whereas
the other one is port 2375. Once I disconnect my VPN, the external IP
uses port 39682. This seems to suggest that OneNote 2007 uses a random
assignment of port numbers for external ones, which would make a lot of
sense for security reasons.

I looked a bit around for OneNote 2003. It seems that 2003 uses just one
port (2302), but defaults to others if 2302 is not available. I'd
suggest to follow the instructions of this KB Article:
