Is it at all posiible or do i discard my earlier collection of ppt
templates.
or can i convert .pot to .potx or do i merely change the extension.
You can open a new presentation in PowerPoint 2007 based on a POT template.
Use Office-Button - New - from template and choose the template you want.
But: Templates have changed in PowerPoint 2007. The two most important
differences: You can use 12 colors instead of 8 and you can define your own
layouts. So if you use an old template once in a while, you can adjust the
colors and you're fine. But if you have an old corporate template, which you
need to use daily, I would recommend building a new POTX template starting
with a blank PowerPoint 2007 presentation. You may copy over the images, but
you should not copy text and placeholder formatting.
