How to make value A = value B

I'm having problem trying to make value A1 = B1 when
values are copy and pasted.
A1=c106 and B1=c106 both are identically the same but
would get a "False" answer

c106 c106 False (formula =a1=b1 )

I tried pasting special with value and even saved the
file as text only and imported back to excel but still
get "False" answer. The Only way I would get a True is
when I type over A1 with the same value (c106). I have
about 20 values that should give me a "True" answer but
it doesn't.

Any help are apprecaited.

Have you checked for spaces after the values in any of the cells you're
using?

Depending on what's in your cells:

select your range to fix
Edit|replace
space bar
with
nothing

(it'll get embedded spaces, too. (This will become: Thiswillbecome:)

And if the data is in just a column, try Data|Text To Columns|Fixed width and
remove any lines excel added and don't add any yourself.

Then just drop the data right back where you got it.

(Repeat for each column you need.)

I found the function trim(text) that would remove the
spaces before and after the text. Now A=B is TRUE.

Any, Thanks for pionting out the spaces beind the values.

Cells are mostly 4-5 alpha-numeric characters with no space in between.
Using Data|Text To Columns|Fixed width
is a lot easy than the function TRIM(text).

Thanks Dave

Edit|replace sounds like it would be even easier (well, if you have to do it
again).
