I have a case. A team member of Project A is a project owner of Project_B and
has all authorities as a project manager role.
How can I design a permission for him which he can open Project_B from
Professional version but can not open Project_A from Professional version?

Thanks in advance,

Edit the My Projects category and deselect the "The user is on that
project's Project Team" option, and then click the Save button. Hope this
helps.

Hi, Dale,

Once deselected "The user is on that project's Project Team" option in
Category, the user can not see Projec_A in Project center anymore. However,
he still could open Project_A directly from "Open" menu in <Project
Professional>. But in this case, he will not see any Project_A global
infomation through PWA_Project center_Project Details, this is not good for
him.

Can this user have following attributes at the same time?
- He is the team member of Project_A, and the PM of Project_B
- In PWA_Project Center, he can see project A and B and further drill down
to Project Details from Project center view
- By clicking "Project Professional" icon in front of the project name from
PWA_Project Center, he can open Project_B in <Project Professional>, but
can't for Project_A
- From "Open" menu of <Project Professional>, he can only retreive Project_B.

Thanks in advance,

JJin

Out of curiosity, are your project managers only members of the Project
Managers group in PWA or are they members of other Groups, such as the Team
Members group? And have you changed other default permissions in Groups
and/or Categories? The steps I gave you should have hidden the project in
both PWA and in Project Professional 2007, so something is funny with your
system.

Beyond this, if you want to custom configure what your PMs can do, you will
need to create a custom Group and Category for this purpose. Read the
following FAQ for an example of how to handle this:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com...edgeBase/Read-OnlyAccessForPMTeamMembers.aspx

Even though the above referenced FAQ refers to 2003, you can apply the
knowledge to 2007 as well. Hope this helps.

Yes, Dale, we have customized Categories and Security Templates. Your link is
very helpful, it will be better if I can find the default settings of all
categories and groups to verify my systems.

Thanks in advance,

JJin
