How to manually delete messages in OL 2002?

Using Outlook 2002

I cannot Send or Receive messages. I get ERROR Message: "The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error."

My Outlook may have too many messages in its various folders. If I
need to manually delete some emails, how do I do it? Pressing the
Delete Key only gives me the above ERROR message.

Thanks,

Try running ScanPST.EXE on your PST (Personal Folders) file. It might be
damaged.

Have you tried running the pstrepair tool?

Does delete if you hit Shift+Del keys? How many items are in the Deleted
items folder?

Thanks. Shift+Del enabled me to manually delete emails. Once I
deleted enough emails (about 800), new emails were able to come in. I
keep my Deleted Folder empty, but I have many emails stored and
organized in various folders

I was told that Outlook 2002 has a limit on either (1) the amount of
space used by emails, or (2) the number of emails themselves.

QUESTION: Is there a way to change a setting so I can override the
limitation?

Thanks,

The size of the .pst file cannot exceed 2 gigs.

Only by upgrading to 03 or 07.

You can't overcome the up to 65,000 items per folder / 2GB max pst size.
You should archive the oldest messages, either using AutoArchive or by
making a new pst (File, New menu) and moving the older items to it. I prefer
moving the items - I can do it by age, project, or other criteria. you
could also look for larger attachments and remove the attachment.
