How to merge contact data into letterhead template in outlook?

How do I merge contact details in Outlook with a Letterhead template that has
been created in Outlook or Word. If I can then save a copy of the letter with
the contact then that would be ideal.

Feature was mercifully removed from Outlook 2007 after years of
underperformance.

this surprises me as it seems like a relatively easy thing to do (if you can
merge from Excel). It is also such an obvious thing to want to do from your
contacts - is there no work-around?

Workaround for what? You have not defined what you want to do nor why the
Insert Address Feature does not suffice.

Hello Russ. I am not familiar with the Insert Address Feature...is this in
Word or Outlook? All I want to do is create a letter from the Outlook COntact
Page using a Template of a Letterhead that I create and then save that letter
under the contact or some other easily accesable place. Can you help please?

No. That "feature" was abandoned after years of not ever working properly.
It has always been possible to insert an address from your Outlook Contacts
into a Word document. Just add Word's Address Book to your Quick Access
Toolbar. You will find it under "All Commands"
