How to Migrate from Hosted Exchange to Local Outlook?

My small business was setup to use MS Exchange hosted by a 3rd party. I've
now closed the business and need to ensure that when I cancel my subscription
for use of the Exchange Server, that I can still retain all contact, emails,
archives, appts, etc. on my local laptop harddrive. What are the steps?
(Have not had any success in getting this info from the hosting company.) I
use MS Outlook 2003 locally.

Using Outlook, export everything in the Exchange mailbox to a Personal
Folders .pst file. Custom forms, views, junk filter lists, and mailbox rules
will not export with the data. If you need those, just shout and we'll give
you some pointers.

Thanks, Sue. So after I create the .pst file, what are the steps to stop
using the Exchange Server on startup and instead use my local copy of Outlook
2003 and connect to my ISP?

The easiest solution might be to create a new mail profile. Or, add the .pst
file and the POP or IMAP account to your existing profile and make the .pst
file the default delivery location.
