How to Migrate Shortcuts?

Steve

How do you move the settings for the Office shortcut bar
from one user profile to the next? Simply copying the
folders under Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Shortcut
Bar doesn't do the trick. TIA.

What version of Office are you referring to?

Some of the OSB settings are stored in the Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<version>.0\Shortcut Bar

2000.

I see the settings in my current registry. Is there a
reasonable way to copy these settings from one machine to
another? Just export the branch and import into the
current registry? Thx.

(I think I'm out of luck because my old OS is not bootable
(bad motherboard), unless there's a way to access the
registry of a non-booted OS. But it would be nice to know
for future use)

Hi Steve,

You should be able to create a *.reg file and import it into your
current Registry. You may want to rename the old key first so in case
it doesn't work as expected you can delete the imported branch and
rename the old one back.
