How to modify documents created in Office trial after trial ends?

C

Carol

I took the Home and Student Office trial and created documents. Now that the
trial has expired, I can view and print my documents, but can't modify them
and can't copy them.

If I unistall the software, will I be able to modify my docs again?

If I buy Home and Student Office in a store, will I be able to modify the
docs created while in the trial version of Home and Student?

Thanks

I answered your question in the first post. Please realize that these groups
are not staffed by 'Softies. We're just users who try to have a life outside
of the newsgroups. (Some do better at that than others.....sigh.)

JoAnn, I am very grateful for any help I can get as I am really in over my
head. Where is the first post? Could you put a link to it? I do not want
to lose the docs I have. I think I will buy the MS Office Home and Student
from a store. If I do, will I be able to edit and copy the docs I created
with the MS Office Home and Student trial that has expired?

Yes, you must buy some edition of Office to be able to edit your files.
No, you will not get full function back in those applications unless you pay
for the programs.
No, you will not lose those files.
Yes, you will be able to edit them again after you purchase some edition of
Office and install it.

Please note: You will be doing yourself a great favor if you uninstall the
trial version before installing the paid version. No, you will not lose your
files in doing so.

Don't you really mean "doing US a great favor"? ;-)

How about *all of us* a big favr?

(Carol - As you might guess, we've seen MANY posts from people who didn't
uninstall the trial version before installing a paid version only to have it
bite them in the behind down the road.)

Whilst awaiting my full version of Office Home and Student to arrive, I
cannot create new documents or modify any document on my computer, even docs
created before the trial. If I uninstall now, a week before the full version
comes, will I restore functionality? What will happen to docs created during
the trial? Please help. And regarding my furious head scratching, I believe
you have misunderstood: I am feeling quite itchy to resume my doc writing
and more a little furious at MS for tricking me with this "trial."

No, you have to wait until you get the full program. Your documents are
sitting there waiting for you - not even collecting dust. When you get your
software in, uninstall the trial, reboot, install the paid version, then
edit your resume.

I know it's easy to blame Microsoft but if you didn't tell the salesperson
you needed Office, who do you really have to blame? And IIRC, the trial
version is clearly marked TRIAL.

Everyone furiously scratches their head for Milly - she has it set up to add
that part automatically. Better your head than your........... ;-)
