How to open a file in OneNote that was created by a later version?

Just created a file in OneNote (ist time user) and when I went to re-open it
a few minutes later it said that it could not be open as it was created by a
later version of One Note - it then said that my version couldn't load the
file. Also said there may be a conversion on the website, which I didn't
find.

Help!

Which version of OneNote?

Can you clarify what you mean by "created a file"? Are you doing this
action outside of OneNote in Windows Explorer?

As a test, can you create a new Notebook, and then a new Section in that
Notebook, and then create some Pages and test content in that Section.
Close OneNote and then open it up again - do you get the same error?

OneNote 2003.

I just purchased an HP laptop with VISTA and loaded the 2003 Office Package.

I set up an account online (in Explorer) that provided me with a web page
confirmation for print. Don't have a printer (and the page only gave me the
choice to print, not to save). I selected OneNote in the "print to" drop down
menu (honestly not knowing a thing about OneNote - just assuming it would be
an appropriate place to save it).

It opened up in OneNote just great and I saved it. The "problem" occurred
when I tried to re-open it.

I tried your test (thanks) and it worked just fine.

Thanks much for your time and info!!
