how to open an application/msword attachment?

I can't open an application/msword attachment.Do I need to install something?
Whem i'm downloading attachment there are some signes.

Right click the attachment > save as then open it from the hard drive.

thank you for your reply but i still have a problem: there isn't save as, there is save link as...and still nothing

In that case what you have been saved is not a document but a link to a
document, perhaps posted online somewhere. You'll have to follow the link
and download the document from that site.
