how to open documents in a second language

I am trying to open some word docs in Chinese, but it all comes out as boxes. How do I get it to come out the way it was written?

Could you send more information about this issue like:

- Version and language of Word application
- Environment: OS version, language, processor: Intel/PPC?
- If this issue is specific to an OS version/processor?

It would also be very helpful if you could send me the document in which you
are seeing this behavior.

Hi:

1) Which version of Word are you using?

2) Do you have all the Chinese fonts installed?

3) When you open the document, use File>Open and check that "Enable" is NOT
set to "recover text from any file". If it is, change it to "All readable
documents"

4) Make sure it is a Word document that you have been sent
