How to open the box?

I haven't seen this question anywhere..

A friend of mine (whom I only communicate with by email) just bought Word X, and cannot figur
out how to get the plastic case around the CD open! I have never seen the product, so I cannot help

I think you have to attack it vigourously with scissors.

I believe that Microsoft have heard the complaints about this issue, so your
friend could gain many benefits by upgrading to Office 2004 (even if s/he
really did buy just Word X and not the whole Office v. X - if the latter, it
will be a _free_ upgrade). I think the the 2004 box is likely to be much
easier to deal with. Who knows - if s/he does the upgrade this week (it
should be available any day now) it might even be quicker than trying to
open that v. X box!

Hi Erb:

Paul's right: although thermonuclear weapons of mass destruction should also
be considered a viable alternative.

Personally I used a carving knife and a lot of blasphemy.

But I also concur with Paul: tell your friend not to open the product but
take it back and cash it in on the next version, which is far far improved
and will be on sale in a week or so.
