How to open Word 2000 document in 2003 without format changes

[Trying to use 2003]

When I open Word 2000 documents in 2003, 2003 applies formatting attributes
to the document which changes font sizes, etc. Ex., the font size for a
Title is 16 in the original document and when opened in Word 2003 the font
size is 22. How can I get 2003 to open 2000 documents without changes?

Make sure that "Automatically update document styles" is not checked for the
attached template in Tools | Templates and Add-ins.
