How to open Word and Excel files in Office 2004?

Hi,

Even though I have Office 2004(O4) installed, when I click on the individual
files, they still open up in Office for OSX (OX).
How do I get them to open up in O4 instead of OX??

I¹d hate to delete OX and not have access to any of my Office files.

You can control click on the file and select "open with" and click on
the "other option", then the Office 2004 application that you want to
open the file with from the choose application window that opens. Note:
You also need to select the "always open with" check box.

Another option would be to open the 2004 application and use the file
open command and browse to the file you want to open.

Hello again Frank,

I was reading a few more posts and noticed you say that you deleted the
test drive, this is probably your whole problem. I recommend that you
remove your office installation of 2004 by running the remove office
tool. Located in the aditional tools folder. The process is well
explained at the following link.

Just don't checkmark Office X if you do not want to remove it. Then
re-install Office 2004.
