How to open word document in printer view?

Windows XP, Word 2003

I always work in printer view & save it that way. All of a sudden (starting
a couple of days ago) documents are opening in normal view, which gives a
landscape view & cuts off the header. Also, I need to e-mail the documents.

I don't know if this is related, but I tried to e-mail the documents & the
recipients cannot open them--error message, "Word experienced an error
trying to open this file." It also suggests check the file permissions for
the document or driver/ make sure sufficient free memory & disk space/ open
file on Text Recovery Converter.
I have plenty of disk space, how do I get file permission & why do I need it
(I'm the only one who uses this computer) ? what is text recovery converter
& how would it help?

TIA

Thanks Suzanne for the tutorial; however, it didn't seem to apply to my
problem. Any other suggestions?' Please help.

If you are opening the documents directly from attachments, they may be
opening in Reading Layout view (you can disable this on the General tab of
Tools | Options). Otherwise, documents should be opening in the view in
which they are saved.

The error message your recipients are getting may have nothing to do with
the file you are sending; if they're using Norton AntiVirus, suggest that
they disable its Office Plug-in.
