How to Page Break on First letter of a field in Access report

I created a phone book report. How can I get a new page when the first
letter of the field changes?

Assuming you have a Grouping and Sorting level on the first letter of the
last name and have a Group Header visible, you can set the New Page property
to the appropriate value.

Thanks for responding Duane,
The source query is sorted by Last name, but I don't know how to "group".
Where do I set the New Page property and to what value is it set?

The sort in your query is virtually useless. You need to open your report in
design view and find the sorting and grouping dialog. It isn't very
difficult to find. Come back if you can't figure out where it's at, how to
sort by the first letter, how to display group headers, or where the New
Page property is located.

I had no problem finding the sort dialog. I entered 2 parameters and set the
first (Last name) as the group, setting "prefix characters" rather than
"exact value". When trying to run I get an error message:"left function not
recognized". I tried the left function in a query, got the same message. I
tried it in Excel, it works fine. Is it possible not all the functions were
installed? I re installed Office, but to no avail. I'm stuck. Can you help?

Duane,
Thanks for all your help. The web page was informative, but I could not
access what he suggested. Clearly, Doug's page had the right idea. So I
created a new db, tested the left function, which worked, then copied the
tables, queries, et. al. to that file; and everything worked fine.
