How to paste SIMPLE formatted text?

H

Herb Martin

Trying to paste a text copy from a command prompt into
OneNote -- the silly formatter is apparently too smart for
it's own good since I ended up with a page two or three
times as wide as the original.

[I had the brilliant idea that pasting the help files from a
Linux or CygWin prompt would help me to learn what I
need.]

Now the text was arranged somewhat in columns
Even pasting the text into notepad and then into OneNote
gave useless results -- even the resize "narrow" button
was non-functional.

You can try this by typing the following at a command prompt
and the copy/paste the text to OneNote:

c:\> netstat -h

The netstat help is very similar to the ls --help I needed to save.

I was very disappointed.

If OneNote cannot paste simple text this is very bad. Looking
in Edit->Paste for some type of "Paste Special" found nothing.

I end up with the same problem. I'll forward it along.

After paste there is small icon at the bottom right corner of the pasted
content, which you can click and choose "Keep text only" (this worked OK for
the netstat help)

Excellent, I will look for the icon and try it.
